According to multiple reports, Arsenal submitted a new and improved bid to Shakhtar Donetsk for winger Mykhalio Mudryk on Monday.
Arsenal had their initial bid of €40 million, plus €20 million, rejected last week by the Ukrainian side as they failed to reach the clubs’ demands.
Fabrizio Romano has reported on his YouTube channel that the Gunners submitted an offer worth more than €50 million guaranteed and are now waiting for Shakhtar’s response.
Romano said: “The two clubs, Shakhtar and Arsenal, have remained in very good contact. Arsenal keeps pushing because Shakhtar could be open to accepting something less than €100million. And, on Monday, Arsenal submitted a new official bid for Mudryk.
“This new official bid is more than €50million guaranteed, so Arsenal has made this new proposal and is waiting for Shakhtar Donetsk to reply and to decide.
“Let me clarify one thing: on the player’s side, there is no problem on personal terms because Mudryk would reach an agreement with Arsenal in five minutes. He would love to join Arsenal, he dreams of Premier League, but the timing is important. Arsenal have to be fast with Mudryk.
“Also, Chelsea are interested in Mudryk. Again, the priority is Arsenal, and the player priority is Arsenal, but Chelsea are moving. Chelsea are trying to move for Mudryk in case the Arsenal deal collapses. But now, Arsenal is the priority.”
As noted on Sunday by Sport Arena, Arsenal and Mudryk agreed to personal terms on a five-year contract, and The Times reported the same on Monday. Daniel Cutts of The Sun also said that Arsenal’s second bid to Shakhtar is worth up to £62 million.
Standard Sport revealed Arsenal are the only club to be in talks with Shakhtar for Mudryk, with regular dialogue ongoing between the two sides as they look to find an agreement on the deal. Furthermore, there’s high confidence that an agreement can be reached between the Gunners and Shakhtar for the talented winger.
Finally, Ukrainian publication Sport Analytic published an article late Monday night noting that Mudryk is getting closer to moving to Arsenal.
The article also claims that Mudryk and Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta have had conversations about his role in the squad.
“It seems that the 21-year-old Ukrainian has already held talks with Mikel Arteta,” the report added.
It’s all up to Shakhtar now, and Arsenal has got to hope that this new offer meets their demands. Let me know what you think. Sound off in the comments section below!
