Report: Mudryk informs Shakhtar Donetsk that he wants to join Arsenal
90min reports Mykhaylo Mudryk has informed Shakhtar Donetsk that he wants to join Arsenal during the January transfer window, despite interest from Chelsea. The Ukrainian winger is said to be aware of the interest from Chelsea, but as previously reported, the 22-year-old has his heart set on the Premier League leaders, Arsenal.
Despite Mudryk’s public interest and willingness to join the Gunners, the two clubs still cannot reach an agreement for the transfer of the player.
However, CBS Sports reporter Ben Jacobs was speaking to Give Me Sport and revealed there’s optimism from Arsenal that they can still strike a deal with Shakhtar and meet the Ukrainian clubs’ demands.
Jacobs said: “There is optimism from Arsenal’s end that they can still get to a deal that has what Shakhtar want upfront, which is at least €55m (£48m), plus add-ons taking it above €70m and maybe even a little bit more.
“If they get to that package of €70m/€75m (£61m/£66m), but with a strong structure, then I think the feeling from Arsenal’s perspective is that Shakhtar might sanction that sale and do so within the next week or so.”
Meanwhile, Mudryk’s agent Oleksiy Alyokhin revealed in an interview with Sport Arena that the player will be attending Shakhtar’s training camp in Turkey. If a transfer is to be made, it will be decided by management.
Alyokhin said: “Mudryk is a Shakhtar player, and the decision on his transfer will be made by the management of the Donetsk club. Now Mykhailo is preparing to go with Shakhtar to the training camp. Trust only official information.”
